How We Partner
Accessibility Reports
Already have a website done, but need it to pass WCAG? We’ll audit it for you! Our Accessibility Reports provide a detailed list of issues and how to address the errors.
Every report includes passing brand color combinations for reference and a full review after your team has addressed the errors.
Accessibility Remediation
The reality of accessibility is that no website stays compliant for long. If your clients or team make changes, something will get messed up.
Work with our team for one-off or monthly accessibility remediation to ensure those beautiful websites stay fully accessible.
Custom Accessible WordPress Development
Have a design ready to go but want accessibility baked right in? Let us build it! Our team creates custom WordPress themes using Advanced Custom Fields, so they’re easy to update but have the control we need to keep them accessible.
Even though we built it, we do an accessibility review at the end of the project to ensure the finished product is fully accessible.
Accessibility Consulting
Want to have an accessibility hero on call? (Well, not totally on call, but you get my drift). We’re here to save your day! We can create a flexible plan to ensure you get the help you need without long-term contracts.
Who We Are
Our team is led by me, Marisa (mar-e-sa). I began coding websites over twenty years ago, back when Geocities was a thing, and I was just a nerdy teenager who assigned herself homework. In 2013, I dove into the world of web accessibility while working for the Scottish Government publisher, and I’ve been following WCAG and building accessible websites ever since.
Agencies Love Working with Captain Coder®
I thoroughly enjoy working as a team with Marisa on both new website builds and website maintenance. I know that I can count on her to give me the correct answers and that she will build sites in a way that sets them up for success in the future. Add that to the fun we have along the way, and I don't know how you could do any better.
Agency Accessibility FAQs
For most websites, we follow the internationally recognized WCAG 2.2 standards. Title II requires conformance with 2.1, so we test for that when needed, but we like to ensure that all of our sites follow the latest best practices.
We first create a comprehensive accessibility brief to ensure we’ve defined the scope, criteria, and deliverables. Then, we create reports using automated and manual testing to ensure all errors are caught. The report outlines each page where an issue was found, organized by severity (high, medium, and low) based on user impact. It also outlines how the issue can be rectified.
Reports are billed in a 10-page pack but always include headers and footers.
When anyone gets into a website and makes changes without the proper knowledge, they can quickly cause issues. It’s not realistic to not allow your clients access to their own sites, so we can provide an easy checklist for them to follow when they’re adding content to the website.
We also offer monthly website remediation services to ensure conformance. (And a great white-label recurring revenue generator for you!)
Yes, we can! To ensure we’re following WCAG, we custom-code WordPress themes with Advanced Custom Fields to allow for easy updating without breaking the site’s design. We can even work with your team during the copy phase to ensure readability and design to ensure passing color combinations and best practices.
Many accessibility issues happen before the first line of code is written.
